Sam Jensch

Sam ran the Equinox 24, in the Leicestershire countryside, to support YoungMinds!

Sam's 24 Hour Race

In September 2019, Sam ran 100 miles in 24 hours as part of the Equinox 24 race! Individuals usually take part as a team, but Sam pushed himself to the ultimate limit and tackled it solo, raising over £2,000 for YoungMinds.

Sam says:

"I was 24 when we lost mum and I feel in hindsight that mental health support and awareness for young people was not as good as it should be. YoungMinds do an amazing job to champion good mental health in young people, but also campaign tirelessly for provisions and services to improve for those who suffer from poor mental health."

I was 24 when we lost mum and I feel in hindsight that mental health support and awareness for young people was not as good as it should be.

In 2014 Sam’s mum sadly lost her battle with poor mental health and in the aftermath, his mental health suffered. As a result of his experiences, Sam plays a huge role in promoting mental health wellness amongst his colleagues in the military as a Mental Health First Aider.

"I am a keen advocate of promoting good mental health from the earliest point possible. If we can get things right with the younger generation whilst they're still young, then it will help everyone in the long run."

Support Our Work

YoungMinds exists so that young people have the strongest possible voice in improving their mental health. We need your help to make sure that voice is heard.

The amount of times I’d tried to break out of this shell, talk about ‘I’m feeling a bit down’, ‘I’m feeling a bit scared’, I couldn’t do it. And now I can do it openly.
