Why is mental health important to your school?
Good mental health is important so that pupils are able to access and engage in their learning and develop healthy relationships with their peers.
We took part in #HelloYellow because it enhanced the College’s key values. It maintains a focus on wellbeing which embeds the ethos of the College. The College has supported the work of #HelloYellow since 2016.
In the prep school, we had an assembly and teachers followed up in class. The children and staff came to school wearing a splash of yellow. Year 2 made worry dolls so that they could share their worries and release any anxieties they may be feeling. Years 3, 4 & 5 made self-soothe boxes as suggested on the website.
In the senior school an assembly was led by the college’s mental health action group with a focus on being active to help rebalance our thoughts, and the adults and students who you could talk to if you had a problem.
Students then completed a skipping session to promote wellbeing through physical activity.
We are an independent school for ages 2-18 pupils, from nursery to sixth form.
There are 600 pupils, including a boarding community.
