Michael's fundraising journey
Why are you fundraising for us?
I am fundraising for YoungMinds because my father died when I was six years old and it was not until my early adulthood that I began to come to terms with the loss. I do not believe that I received the support that I now know I needed at the time.
I feel extremely passionately about this walk because the main purpose is to raise money for YoungMinds. This charity’s cause resonates strongly with me, as like YoungMinds, I strongly believe that no young person should lack access to the support and professional help that they are entitled to.
What will you be doing?
On the 1 September 2022, I began a 4,500km circumnavigation of Spain, my adopted country, by foot. In doing this I aim to raise at least £10,000 for YoungMinds – the UK’s leading charity fighting to improve children’s mental health.
The walk itself will loosely follow six major pre-existing trails, and in order to keep within my strict €10-per-day budget, I will be sleeping in a tent for most of the journey!
