Why is mental health important to you?
We have both had family and friends that have experienced mental health issues and feel it's important that help is given to those struggling so they have an opportunity to live a more happy life.
We have both chosen to fundraise for YoungMinds as we believe that raising both money and awareness for the cause will go a long way in helping support a platform in which young people today can use to help care for their mental health, which is becoming increasingly useful and important.
On 19 January 2023, we started our 3,000km hike from the southern most point of New Zealand (Bluff) and have been making our way to Cape Reinga, the northern point of New Zealand.
We have been following the Te Araroa Trail which involves walking through tough terrain - over mountains, crossing rivers, through thick forest and more.
We are aiming to finish this journey late May which will be a feat that we will both remember forever.
Both of us met in Thailand in late 2017 while we were both working in a dive shop in Koh Tao.
Since then we have lived together in various different countries and have travelled many places - one of which being New Zealand where we spent the ski season in Queenstown.
In the summer we decided to take on the Te Araroa trail in support of mental health.
