YoungMinds Fundraising Round-Up

In this week’s round-up blog, we congratulate and thank some of our brilliant fundraisers, shining a light on how they been supporting the work of YoungMinds.

We are so proud of and grateful for the incredible work our fundraisers do to help raise vital funds and awareness around child and young people’s mental health. We couldn’t do it without you.

North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College

A group of amazing NSETC business students fundraised for YoungMinds as part of their course. Within their college, Tara Evans and the team organised and hosted their own Alice in Wonderland bake sale. Discussing their fantastical event, Tara said that they all enjoyed

…decorating the dining hall with a variety of decorations including balloons, fairy lights and posters. We were also overjoyed to discover we had raised £87.43 from our event"

Asked why they chose to support YoungMinds, they replied that

As a team we really felt that YoungMinds, being a charity that specifically supports young people’s emotional wellbeing, was relevant to many of our students at the NSETC as well as those in Weston-super-Mare.”

Our huge thanks go to all the NSETC students who fundraised for YoungMinds.

Susan Pryor

Susan Pryor held a Masquerade Ball in aid of YoungMinds and the Tourette’s Action Group. Susan raised a grand total of £2,827.60.

Everyone at YoungMinds would like to wish a massive thank you to Susan for her amazing achievement.

The Disappointment Choir

The Disappointment Choir are an indie pop duo from Buckinghamshire. They are Katy (vocals, guitar) and Rob (vocals, synths, guitars) and have been playing together since 2011.

The band have decided to donate all revenue from their second album's debut single, "Winter Hill", to YoungMinds in recognition of the charity's amazing work with young people. Both bandmates work with teenagers in their day jobs and it's a cause very close to their hearts.

The single comes out on iTunes and Spotify and all other major digital outlets on 2 December. You can get your copy of "Winter Hill" and support YoungMinds .

Poppy Backshall

Poppy ran in the Conwy Half Marathon last month to raise awareness and funds for young people suffering with their mental health. Telling us her story, Poppy said that

…I started running when I was very young as I suffered from anxiety attacks. My older sister would take me for a run or a walk whenever I started to feel a bit rubbish and after it I would feel a massive sense of relief. It became a coping mechanism. Therefore it made sense to run for YoungMinds.”

“My favourite part about fundraising was being able to talk to be people and hear their positive responses. So many people were willing to donate even if it was just a couple of pounds which meant I could get closer to my target.”

YoungMinds would live to say a huge thank you to Poppy for running for us. You can say thanks as well by donating on Poppy's fundraising page.

A massive thank you to all of our brilliant fundraisers.
