Heads Together Comedy Night for YoungMinds
On 18th September 2017, some of the biggest names in British comedy joined forces to support Heads Together, the campaign to change the conversation on mental health spearheaded by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
Frank Skinner hosted the Heads Together Comedy Night for YoungMinds, leading a star-studded line up of Michael McIntyre, Jimmy Carr, Harry Hill, Russell Kane, Katherine Ryan and Tommy Tiernan. With such a brilliant array of comedians, the audience were bound for an evening of the best of British comedy. And it was! From McIntyre’s energetic story-telling to Carr’s quick punchlines, the auditorium was filled with laughs.
The event, which took place at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire, raised money for YoungMinds, one of the eight charity partners for the Heads Together campaign. Heads Together has had a huge impact in getting the country talking about mental health, and in challenging the stigma that so often prevents people from taking the first step towards getting help.
Frank Skinner said:
During the interval, the audience saw a video of one of our activist’s. Aaliyah shared her story of having depression at 15, and how for her, volunteering with YoungMinds got her out of bed during her toughest times. YoungMinds exists for young people like Aaliyah, to give them the strongest possible voice in improving their mental health.
We want to say a huge thank you to all those involved in making the night such a success. Special thanks go to Cathy, Rachel, Lucy and Amy for bringing it all together, Frank Skinner for hosting and the fantastic comedians who lent their talent to help shine a light on children and young people’s mental health.
