- she/her Millie Bright (MIL-ee BRITE)

Why have you chosen to support YoungMinds?

"I have chosen to support YoungMinds to ensure their amazing work and help is seen and made even more visible for any young person in need of some help, support and advice and also parents with young people who they’re concerned about.

Having an understanding of and having experienced seeing loved ones go through hard times and struggling with mental health, while also having my own demons to tackle, I really appreciate the work YoungMinds are doing and the difference they’re making to young people can be life changing.

The society we live in is extremely opinionated and challenging at times and mental health is not to be ignored or undermined. I want every person to feel they have a voice but also they have someone to talk to and be by their side while fighting through tough times."

  • What do you do to switch off and take care of your mental health?

"To switch off I enjoy walking my three little doggies, exploring new coffee places and spending time with family and friends. If I’m ever struggling I like to write in my journal if I don’t want to verbally speak to someone it’s a way of me getting things off my chest and not worrying about anyone judging me."

  • What advice would you give to your younger self?

"Advice to my younger self would be to make more time for yourself and don’t feel guilty for it. Slow down a little and don’t be in a rush to succeed, take in every moment."

Which of our values do you relate to most and why?

"The main value that struck me the most and really aligned with my values is ‘we’re not afraid to speak up for what’s right’."

"Especially in my profession fighting for what’s right and speaking up is something we’ve done for many years and will continue to. With my platform I have always wanted to use it in the right way and not only speak up for myself but others that may need it.

Another one is ‘we celebrate what makes you, you’. This one is special to me and hits home as my nephews are autistic and have ADHD. I am wanting them to embrace who they are and be proud while spreading awareness that yes we are all different, but we are all beautiful inside and out in our own ways and that’s what makes us special."
