Transitioning From Child To Adult Mental Health Services

Transitioning From Child To Adult Mental Health Services

The transition to adult mental health services for a young person can be difficult. We need to hear your views to help support the transitions process.

The project

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) support ends when a young person turns 18. After that, young people are either discharged and under the care of their GP, or they are moved on to Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS). The transition from CAMHS to AMHS can be difficult. We are working with North West London Collaboration of Clinical Commissioning Group to help support the transitions process. We need you to tell us what you think. We will use your feedback to design training for professionals that will improve the support that young people using CAMHS get when they turn 18.

Free training in North West London

We will also be offering training for up to 320 people from the local system. These ‘train the trainer’ training sessions seek to significantly improve the experiences of children and young people transitioning into adult services in the following boroughs:

  • Harrow
  • Hillingdon
  • Ealing
  • Hounslow
  • Brent
  • City of Westminster
  • Kensington & Chelsea
  • Hammersmith & Fulham

Participants from other boroughs are also welcome. To register your interest for this training, please email [email protected]g.uk.
