Amplified Masterclasses

Our Amplified masterclasses series provides practical advice and information about involving children and young people, parents and carers in improving their mental health services.

Amplified masterclasses are a series of workshops co-facilitated with young people, parents and carers, focusing on specific elements of participation within children and young people’s mental health services.

These workshops include:

  • peer learning
  • interactive tasks
  • insights from a mix of workers, young people and parent/carers from a range of different backgrounds

The Amplified masterclasses are open to anyone working to support or promote young people’s mental health.

The current masterclasses are divided into 4 themes:

  1. Participation for universal services
  2. Systems participation
  3. Widening involvement
  4. Participation in practice

  • 1. Participation for universal services

    This masterclass day offers practical guidance for organisations and individuals working in services that provide mental health support to children, young people and their families.

    It will be especially helpful for:

    • Organisations who would like to increase the participation of parents and carers in their work.
    • Mental Health services looking to broaden the scope of participation, or to share ideas with others.
    • Professionals with a responsibility for organisational participation who are new to this area of work or want to develop their confidence in working with parents and carers.

  • 2. Systems participation

    This masterclass day is aimed at organisations and professionals working anywhere in the young people’s mental health system- from universal and primary care services to specialist mental health services- who want to develop or assure their organisation’s mental health participation strategy.

    It will be especially helpful for:

    • Individuals working in mental health services with a responsibility for participation
    • Individuals working in other organisations providing support to young people including children’s services, youth justice services, primary care, targeted youth services working with vulnerable groups who want to better understand how they can plan and promote young people’s involvement around mental health in their organisation
    • Organisations with reach across a local system like clinical networks and CCGs who want to develop a strategy for young people’s participation in relation to mental health across the area.

    The masterclass is split over 2 sessions:

    Morning session: Designing young people’s mental health participation across local systems

  • 3. Widening involvement

    This masterclass is aimed at organisations and professionals working anywhere in the young people’s mental health system- from universal and primary care services to specialist mental health services- who want to engage young people in their work who may have extra vulnerabilities.

    It will be especially helpful for:

    • Individuals working in mental health services with a responsibility for participation
    • Individuals working in other organisations providing support to young people including children’s services, youth justice services, primary care, targeted youth services working with vulnerable groups who want to better understand how they can increase the engagement of young people with extra vulnerabilities.

    The masterclass is split over 2 sessions:

    Morning session: Introduction to supporting the engagement of young people with extra vulnerabilities
