What you'll learn

This one-day introductory course will enable you to use trauma-informed approaches to support young people impacted by adverse childhood experiences and trauma.

By the end of the course, you’ll:

  • Understand the impact of trauma and chronic adversity on children and young people
  • Learn ways of developing trauma informed approaches
  • Discover strategies to reduce risk of re-traumatisation
  • Learn resilience based approaches to working with children and young people who have experienced trauma
  • Understand the impact of working with trauma and the support structures we need to effectively support children and young people

Why take the course?

1 in 3 adult mental health conditions relate directly to adverse childhood experiences. We know the adults in young people’s lives are critical in helping them cope when they’re struggling, so it’s vital that they understand how to support young people who have experienced trauma.

You will learn resilience based approaches to help children and young people cope with stress and adversity and feel better equipped to support their mental health and wellbeing.
