In this week’s round-up we shine the light on what some of our brilliant fundraisers have been doing to support the work of YoungMinds.
We are so proud of and grateful for the incredible work our fundraisers do to help raise vital funds and awareness around child and young people’s mental health. We couldn’t do it without you!
The amazing Helena Beer walked 1350 miles across the UK from Lands’ End to John O’Groats and beyond. With just herself and her tent, Helena roamed for several months, tackling every hill and incline in her way. She raised over £4000 in the process for YoungMinds!
Everyone at YoungMinds would like to wish a massive thank you to Helena for her extraordinary achievement. You can too say thank you to Helena and support her via her Virgin Money Giving page.
Brilliant Mark has been a supporter of YoungMinds for a number of years and recently took part in Tough Mudder, combatting acres of overgrown woodlands, gruelling trails and gritty mud, to raise vital funds for YoungMinds.
Mark is passionate about YoungMinds and told us:
I have followed the work of YoungMinds for a while now and love the work they do to provide young people with the support they deserve to cope with and understand mental health. It is a hard thing for adults to deal with let alone a child, this made me want to do my part to help provide the support to more people.
My favourite part of the fundraising had to be the event itself - it’s a great way to test your physical and mental strength. The terrain was gruelling to traverse and the obstacles just made it that much harder to believe that I would finish. But luckily the volunteers and other runners created such a great team atmosphere which helped me drag myself across the finish line.

The super Maria took on the Folkestone half-marathon on Sunday 25th September. After an intense and gruelling training period, Maria managed to complete her run in an amazing 2 hrs 30 minutes. We are really proud of Maria’s determination and efforts!
You can still support Maria via her Just Giving page.
Author, Amy Turner broke a world record on the 2nd October by bouncing for a mile on a space hopper in support of YoungMinds. She completed the mile in 17 minutes 22 seconds!
You can support our happy hopper via her Just Giving page.
With 4000 other swimmers, Sophie took to the chilly waters of Hyde Park to swim in support of YoungMinds. Sophie was one of our Swim Serpentine swimmers!
Sophie told us:
The best part of the fundraising was to do something I love but for a good cause.
When asked why she supported YoungMinds, she said:
YoungMinds…helps young people who need help but don't visibly look like they need help, so often get overlooked… which is great. More young people are getting the help they need. It's a charity which may not be well known but does a great thing.
You can still support Sophie here via her Virgin Money Giving page. If Sophie has inspired you to take the splash, why not swim for YoungMinds in next year’s Swim Serpentine?
YoungMinds would not be able our work or services without the dedication and support of our brilliant fundraisers.
Fundraising in support of YoungMinds is a great way to have fun, raise vital funds and awareness of the importance of young people's mental health and emotional wellbeing.
If you are interested in fundraising for YoungMinds, we would be more than happy to support you in any way that we can.
