YoungMinds Fundraisers at the JustGiving Awards 2017
Two of our fundraisers, Chris and Alex, have been acknowledged for their incredible efforts in the JustGiving Awards.
The JustGiving Awards celebrate the outstanding commitment from fundraisers in supporting a charity. Out of 31,000 nominees, YoungMinds fundraisers Chris and Alex were selected among 21 finalists for their positive contribution to a charity. Chris went on to win Creative Fundraiser of the Year.
Chris Pickhaver, Winner of Creative Fundraiser of the Year
Chris’ 16-year-old son Joe took his own life in December 2016, after a long struggle with mental illness. Ever since, the Pickhaver family have been raising awareness and funds for YoungMinds, enabling us to continue with our vital work in championing the wellbeing and mental health of young people. In just 11 months, the family have raised over £52,100.
JustGiving have named Chris their Creative Fundraiser of the Year, for producing a beautiful book of photographs in Joe’s memory. The stunning monochrome photos of Joe, and his childhood surroundings on Whiststable beach, are a moving tribute from a father to his son.
We cannot thank the Pickhaver family enough for their remarkable efforts in supporting YoungMinds.
Alex Staniforth, Finalist for Endurance Fundraiser of the Year
Climbing just one peak wasn’t enough for adventurer enthusiast Alex Staniforth, who in 72 days climbed a staggering 100 peaks in the UK – and aimed to be the fastest to do so. In order to reach the highest point of all UK counties in time, Alex even cycled and kayaked between climbs.
In completing #ClimbTheUK, Alex raised over £25,000 for YoungMinds.
Alex’s endurance is staggering, and so it’s only fitting he was a finalist for Endurance Fundraiser of the Year. Along with this nomination, Alex also won Regional Fundraiser for the North West in the Pride of Britain Awards. We want to say a huge thank you and well done to Alex for all he’s done for YoungMinds and young people’s mental health.
